Sorry sangat2 sebab tak sempat nak update blog. So many things have happened.. Dengan yang ambil PMR nya, dengan yang balik kampung sampai 5 bulan nya, dengan minor renovation to the house nya.. dengan mr hubby's policy : "No maid, no bake" nya.. Apa nak dikata.

Alhamdulillah, everything falls back in place in October. Juriah arrived on 9/10 and Nurin's exam finished on 11/10. Terus I accept orders you! Rasa rindu tak terkira dengar bunyi mixer yang bingit itu. Hehehe..

Anyways, this is a short post to say I'm baking again. I've actually accepted orders last month, but I didn't have the time to update my blog.

New flavors: Red Velvet, Oreo, Coffee (perfected), Rainbow (takla new kan? This is so last year,.. Iskandar dah nak celebrate again his birthday next month.)

New designs: Stack cakes, Castle cakes.

New Pictures: dah lama tak snap guna my dslr. Asyik guna phone aje, and terus upload to my personal facebook. Nanti I upload dalam Mama Chak's Recipe Facebook ya. Dah lama juga tak masukkan dalam flickr. Entah laku lagi ke tak account itu.. Note to self: check flickr account.

As you can see in my FYI box, sudah sendat for this weekend. But do text juga, sbb kadang2 boleh selit2 lagi for adhoc parties gitu. May not be able to answer phone calls.

Iskandar's Birthday

Yeah! Last year! Hik hik hik! I actually wanted to update my time slots here, and realised that I've not been blogging for a while. There's not even a post in March! Ceh! Just 2 posts this year? So, I decided to write something quick. But a post without pictures is pretty dull. And I am just tired (and plain lazy) to find good pictures. You know, the best picture that would show the best angles and all. So, I found Iskandar's birthday pictures that was supposed to be last year's post.. Hehehe.. Oh well! Better than nothing, eh? My only boy, my third child with two older sisters and two younger sisters, my jantung hati, my favourite boy (of course!), Mas Zahid Iskandar turned 4, 4th December 2010.

We did a celebration at his playschool, as well as at home since my mom's siblings were all gathered in KL for Azizul's (my cousin) wedding.

Nurin took care of the goody bags.. DIY paper bags made from envelopes. I love the content of the goody bag. I didn't spend much.. But in my budget (yang ciput itu), I managed to squeeze in a box of 12 color pencils (Thanks Mydin! Buy in bulk!), a coloring book (downloaded coloring pictures from the internet, and sent for photocopy. Thanks Nurin! Of course! Who else?) and all those sweet tooth stuffs..

Dania helped present the cake to the birthday boy that morning.

He wanted a cake rumah salji (his actual words) with santa clause! I think it was because he saw the house cake pan Nurin gave me for my birthday, which shows the many ways to decorate the house pan. I replaced with clown instead.. (honestly, tak de clown pun.. and he asked, mana orang? :-p)

And this was Iskandar's cake later that evening. We are party animals, indeed! The easiest design I could do was the clowns.. The challenge was to think which clown sits where and holds what.. :-) . I have more different angles actually taken with my phone. But, I accidentally erased all of the pics from my phone, when I intelligently tried to update my phone's software. All contacts were gone too! My cousin Azril, told me to stick to baking, and not do anymore IT stuffs!

I wanted to experiment on the interior design of the cakes. 1st, a rainbow cake. And the other one, a heart inside the cake. Ini Lady Myra yang suruh saya test. However, the heart shaped tak jadi! Nampak macam a lip shaped inside the cake, kan? My cousin, Zarina kata, aci aje tu.. ! :-) The challenge of the interior design of the cake is that I will not know how it looks like until I cut it! So, surprise ya dapat lips ke, heart ke..

For the rainbow, I purposely did pastel colors, because I knew very well that my relatives (especially yang dah ada cucu tu) are so afraid of food coloring. Takut benor nak makan strong colorful color cakes. I bet some of your relatives are like mine too. So, I would normally ask, mau pelangi terang, or mau pelangi lembut.. I've done a pelangi terang for a customer. Also informed her that I would like a picture of how it looks like in the inside, but I guess she is too busy to send the picture to show me.

And, did you notice that Iskandar's cakes were all about the weather. We had the snow house cake, the rainbow cake, and the label on his goody bag was a sunny day!

and oh! I won't be writing in another month, I think.. I'll be actively baking (which I'm not supposed to do), and managing my children. I would diligently post pictures in my facebook page. Senang gitu! Snap and upload. So, latest pictures banyak di situ ya.

Happy 58th & Happy Retirement

Wah! Sudah Februari! and I only made one post for Jan! Aduh! Alhamdulillah I tak letak 'posting stories in blog' as one of my Declaration of Excellence for 2011! Harus stress kalau tak buat! Alangkan 1 buku 1 bulan pun sungguh menyiksakan! Asal buka buku aje, mata pun layu.. kalau boleh baca 5 mukasurat pun dah besar tuah!

Tapi sesungguhnya, tersangat2 rindu nak tulis.. nak complain itu ini.. begitu begini.. cuma masa tak mengizinkan. Bila dah ada masa, dah tak ingat pula nak tulis apa.. LOL! Pelupakah sudah saya? Adakah kerana perkara2 itu tidak penting, maka saya lupa?.. mmm.. seperti harga susu Ideal sudah naik 40sen .. serbuk koko kegemaran saya sudah naik ke RM24 sekilo (masa saya mula membelinya 3 tahun lepas, harganya cuma RM16 sekilo), margin untung saya juga semakin kecil, kerana harga kos naik, tapi saya masih di harga lama (tidak pentingkah ini?), buttermilk asyik tiada stok aje, .. atau yang paling saya selalu lupa ialah merajuk dengan cik abang sayang (normal kah bagi orang yang dah 16 tahun kahwin - dah lupa dah yang sebenarnya saya berada dalam 'mode' merajuk?!) .. atau mungkin kerana, ada terlalu banyak perkara yang lebih penting dari berada di 'mode' merajuk, seperti, skru mata benam, meja gerudi lantai dan Maharaja Mikado Meiji; dan tulisan cina yang bermaksud tambah atau tolak! Tak macam dulu2.. harus aku merajuk seminggu! :-p.. and perasan tak saya menggunakan Bahasa Malaysia? LOL! Ini semua penangan anak-anak yang kurang penguasaan dalam Bahasa Malaysia.. Di rumah, pelbagai peribahasa saya gunakan supaya mereka tidak hairan mendengarnya. Antara yang berada di carta teratas ialah 'bagai itik pulang petang' dan 'memulangkan paku buah keras'! LOL! Dan saya perasan, perkataan yang menjadi kegemaran saya kebelakangan ini ialah 'baiklah' dan 'tidak perlu'!!!

TAPI... setiap pagi, saya jadi guru Bahasa Inggeris.. rasa macam jadi D0ra the Expl0rer pun ada! Iskandar lebih fasih berbahasa Melayu.. Boleh ketawa mendengar dia berceloteh.. macam tengok siri alih suara Doremon! Antaranya ialah 'Oh! Di sini rupanya!', dan 'Mama! Hebat tak saya?', apabila menunjukkan hasil ciptaan kapalterbangnya dari Lego. Jadi, di pagi hari, dalam perjalanan ke sekolah, saya akan memulakan perbualan dengan melihat alam sekitar. "Abang, look at the sky. The sky is blue. Can you see the sun? What is the color of the sun?". Lepas tu saya ketawa sendiri. Asal balik sekolah saja, topik perbualan harus berkisar kepada perkara2 yang dilihat dalam perjalanan pulang. Objektifnya ialah supaya dia menghabiskan air yang dibawa ke sekolah tadi. Jadi, asal jumpa hentian bas, atau pokok mati, saya akan kata, "Abang, look on your left. Dead tree! Drink water!". Dan dia pun menghirup air secepat mungkin.

Bila petang saja, saya jadi seperti pengusaha tadika, dengan menyediakan minum petang kepada mereka. Habis malas ialah roti bakar disapu kaya... macam kopitiam.. he he... Kalau rajin, buatlah donut ke, roti jala.. cewah! Lepas tu, harus saya paksa mereka main di luar rumah, Boleh lah saya cepat2 menghias kek yang dibakar di sebelah pagi tadi.

Banyak sungguh membebel hari ni..LOL! Cukuplah ya.. Saya sudahi dengan gambar kek yang dipinta oleh Intan! (alih bahasa pula ya.. sungguh skema rasanya hari ini..)

Intan is my friend since way back in Sri Aman days.. When she sent a message in my fb, I nearly fell off the chair! It was her dad's retirement and his 58th birthday.. She wanted all his favorite things on the cake, all 28 of them!! I took 2 weeks to complete the figurines. During the period, I had all the tools ready for me to work on the table at anytime I want. I would do them in between my baking, while waiting for abang to get ready for school or any time I have. It was my first time doing most of the items! I did the cat twice, oh no.. three times! The first one looked like a dog instead of a cat.. And my dad confirmed that my second one was a poodle! The front part of the Harley Davidson was done FOUR times!!! I broke the handle twice! The handle wouldn't stick to the rim the third time! And I had to come up with an alternative so that it would stick no matter what as it was already the last day!

I enjoyed doing this project. Most were copy-cats(and trying to figure out how they did it.. I definitely copied Kak Jun and Anita Jamal!), self study, and internet research.. It certainly brings out the creativity I thought I never had.. It made me think out of the box. And most of all, it was the encouragement from Intan that made me do this and believe in myself that I could do it. Perhaps it was labor of love that made this cake what it was.. I thank the Almighty for a friend like Intan.. whose positive words makes me a better cake artist. I miss you Intan! A lot! Jom gi PIBG meeting next month! (Alia and Nurin study in Sri Aman now. Alia is a year younger than Nurin. Believe it or not, I don't see Intan at school! LOL!) .. Here are some pics to end this month's post.. :-)

Happy 2011!!

I have been wanting to update my blog since, hmmm.. not sure when already. It has been ages since my last short post, right? And it took me some time to actually create a fan page in facebook.. Mainly because, I am a perfect-melancholy-wannabe.. I would want to read the terms and conditions of a fan page before I create one. And I finally did! I find it faster to update my work there.. as I do not have to write a lot.. duh! and people would know that I am still actively baking and decorating..

Mmm.. however, as mentioned in my previous post, I shall not be taking as many orders as I used to. This year, my kids go to four different schools! Nurin in Secondary School. Dania in Primary School. Favorite son, Iskandar in kindergarten. And Hannah in Playschool. It is Iskandar's and Hannah's first time to their new school... I was pretty emotional two weeks before school starts. I seriously feel that my kids grow up very fast. I just don't want to imagine the day Iskandar would feel shy to kiss and hug me in public. :-p

And, so my plan was to kiss and kiss and kiss and hug and hug and hug him many times in a day.. and I told Nurin to do the same, so that he can't live without our hugs and kisses! muahahaha! kejam tak? I know kejam! :-p

Hannah and Iskandar were pretty cool on their first day of school. I started sending Hannah the final week of 2010, so that I would not rush here and there on the first day of school this year. When I dropped her off that morning, she hurriedly entered the gate.. as if I was going to change my mind. Tak pusing2 belakang pun.. meluru aje..

As for Iskandar, I waited for their assembly and till he entered his classroom for the first period. Jenuh pesan kat dia... "Kalau cikgu panggil Mas Zahid.. tu nama abang tau... " :-p

He seemed able to adapt with the new environment where Malay is minority, compared to his previous playschool, where Malay was majority and the language used.

So, I was left alone with lil Jasmine with her new punk hairstyle. Tak tau la kenapa, her hair turned out to be 'cacak' after we shaved her! She's 8 mo now, and ada 2 gigi bawah baru tumbuh.. :-D

Alamak.. I'm sorry I bore you with my personal stories.. what's important are my cakes.. silly me!

Anyways.. I have new flavors yang I dah lama jual tapi tak berkesempatan nak cerita to everyone: oreo; red velvet; coffee mocha (coffee masih di tahap experimenting if it can be coffee cupcakes.. not sure if it is due to the cupcake casing or what, sometimes the cupcake liner lekang.. but as a whole cake - yes boleh [tapi, kawan I, Serina and Kartina, diorang tak kisah, cupcake liner lekang ke, apa ke.. they like it in the mini cupcake size.. taste and looks are subjective.. :-) .. don't forget!])

hmm.. nak kena update price list la pulak.. Leceh la my pricelist tu.. kena play around with the tables.. and then sat lagi I ter-merge lah.. apa lah.. :-p.. I will definitely update my price list to display the new flavors.. but not so soon ya.

I know everyone has only 24 hours in a day. And we all have loads to do.. And I am amazed with people and leaders who can accomplish a lot of things.. I feel so tiny compared to them. At this very moment, updating my price list with the new flavors are not in my to do list..

One thing about me, as a perfect-melancholy-wannabe, I love lists! Whatever I want to accomplish tomorrow, I shall write them down tonight. I find that lists are powerful, as I accomplish a lot more things if I write them down. and I love cancelling them off too! Rasa bangga tak terkira masa tu! Siap panggil anak2 to witness me cancelling my lists off!

Alive and kickin'

It has been a while since my last post. Some have emailed me, concerned of my well being.. Alhamdulillah.. I am so touched by your gestures. Alhamdulillah, I am fine. After Aidil Fitri, my days were busy with cakes for open house, birthdays, wedding cakes and door gifts.. And now, I have added another product - decorative cookies, as well as another portfolio - tutor. Nurin is sitting for her PMR next year and Dania will be sitting for her UPSR the year after, and my husband insists that I coach them myself, as it seems they are scared of me more than the current tutor we hired (well, the current tutor is for their mandarin subjects je pun.. which I can't teach!).. With that said, I have to complete all my baking work before they get back home from school. I have accepted some orders for next year too. 3/2/2011 dah full. and another one in March. I shall publish the dates yang dah full so that it will save your time from calling and my time for answerring. Oh ya.. with my additional portfolio, I would not be able to accept appointments anymore.. and then again.. this is an online business.. everything is pretty much online!.. Birthday Cakes ideas - assorted designs

Ideally, I would love to post 1 topic for 1 cake, so that you can straight away know the content of my post from the title itself. But, my time is so limited, because I like to do many things. Since we are now approaching the second week of Ramadhan, I am making myself busy with sewing. This time around, I want to sew baju kurung for my kids, my helper and myself.

You see, my mom used to have a children's boutique way back when I was a little girl. UniFashion. :-D. Too bad, she had to close down her shop because my dad was a government officer, and we had to move a lot. :-( . I had the bestest time of my life trying out dresses, and becoming a runway model .. muahaha.. .. and I was so 'perasan' that ALL the dresses were MINE. I remember I got into a fight with another model, because she wore MY dress for the show. *evil grin*

My mom loves to sew. If I'm not mistaken, she started sewing when she was 9 or 10. And when I was 13, she taught me how to sew, but I wasn't interested at all. I learnt anyways. She always tells me (till now) that the skill would come in handy one day. And that I could make a business out of it.. (tengok2 buat bisnes kek.. hahahaha)

True enough, I sew my own curtains and all my new borns' comforters, pillow cases and bolsters (except for Hannah, I got my mom to sew them for me) . I even sew basket cover for my first born, Nurin. (She turned 14 last Friday). Tapi, bakul tu takat Nurin je la.. muahaha. As for Jasmine, initially I wanted to buy the material for her at Kamdar. When I went there, it was a Sunday, and the shop was closed. So, I went to Baby Land next to it, and found ready made ones, so I bought them. And when I finished sewing the curtains for the children's room, I realised that I had extra materials. So, I made another set of beddings for Jasmine. I only completed the bed sheet, pillow cases and bolsters as I was already approaching the expected due date. And now, Jasmine has started moving around the cot. So, last week I completed her crib bumper.. I completed the crib bumper for half of the cot only, hehe. Sebab takut tak sempat nak jahit the girls' baju kurung.. (esok dia golek2 lagi.. jahit the other half). So, last week, I completed Dania's baju kurung, tinggal nak jahit tangan aje on certain parts.. (Lawak gila, sebab bila nak jahit, baru bukak note book dulu2.. and garu kepala tengok apa yang ditulis, dan apa yang dilukis.. :-p)

So, this week I plan to complete the rest of the baju kurung. My in law pulak bagi kain lagi.. So, sorang ada dua baju kurung. Jenuh gue nak menjahit.

Err, this wasn't suppose to be a long intro. Sorry about that.. Let's go to pictures!

This was orderd by Gee for her 1 y.o. son. She loves Ellie's Thomas Cake and wanted the same design. Ellie punya ada Thomas toys on top. So, jenuh Gee korek2 cari Ziyad's Thomas train. I do not recommend fondant train, sbb the cake is not a fondant cake. Kalau fondant cake, dia lagi kuat untuk menampung berat figurin. BTW, this cake travelled to Temerloh for Ziyad's 1st Birthday celebration! ... and best kan nama anak dia : Jaudat Ziyad Mikael!

And this, was ordered by my cousin's friend - Shaila forher 7 y.o Zane. Avatar! Coming to cinemas, kan?

This was ordered by Amy, after her boss gave her a box of cupcakes for Shao Er's full moon. It was a very last minute order for edible images.. So, tak sempat nak ding dong ding dong. If you notice, the quality of the picture is not very clear. This is because the picture sent was very small. When asked her feedback, Amy likes it nevertheless. Here is the guideline on the size of a pictures for a superb quality image. Now, I do not travel to Puchong to collect edible images anymore. I got Arie to post them to me even though I know that my margin would be smaller for this set. Save the stress of the traffic jam. :-D

And this lovey dovey choc cake was ordered by Tini for her anniversary. Happy Anniversary darling.. Tini dulu kerja sama unit ngan I.. :-)

Haaa, this order came in and made me smile from ear to ear (sebenarnya I ketawa terbahak2.!!).. Syakimah told me that her son wanted a 'lori sampah' cake.. Lawak Lawak!!! I could not find a good view of the Alam Flora lorry when googled. I got my phone camera ready every time I left the house that week, to snap a picture of it. But, encountered none! And when it was garbage day at my area, I waited and waited. But when I heard the engine, it was already at my neighbour's. I just managed to take note of the colors. Syakimah and Thaqif were happy with the cake, Alhamdulillah.. And the very next day, I saw Alam Flora lorry everywhere.. At carwash la, mana la.. Rata2 nampak.. :-p

This was ordered by Nik for her beloved hubby. Jenuh Nik pikir nak kek apa for her husband, as she only found samples of boys' cakes in my blog. Due to that, I re-organised the sets in my flickr. And added gadgets on the right column. I named them For Him, For Her etc. These are links to the new sets in flickr and hopefully it would help narrow your search.

I did 2 Dora cakes that week. This time around, Nana chose Princess Dora for Jannah. Dah 3 tahun Jannah. Jannah's No. 1 cake design is still a hit. Sekarang Nana dah terer plan parties.. Boleh la nak bukak ala2 Balloon Bouquet kat Bangi.. or bukak Party Planning services kat sana.. :-D .. Nana insisted that the Dora has to have the 'I dream of Genie' tocang (I actually coaxed her to have a crown instead), sbb Jannah dah sikat2 rambut macam princess.. And the party pack also displays the Princess Dora with tocang.. Tak aci la if pakai crown.

And ni pulak for Beth! Her name is so long. Beth is taken from Bethrisya. Sorry ya, I saja yang panggil dia Beth. This cake and lots of mini carrot cupcakes travelled to Muar for Beth's birthday. Beth's mom, cikgu vogue, Ena had her niece and nephew to help transport not just the cake and cupcakes, but balloons too!! Ena, belon tu kena tambah helium lagi kah? Ni lagi sorang boleh bukak party planning shop! And thanks to Nan and Ena for the party packs.. Seronok la budak2 kat rumah ni..

SubhanAllah, I still have lots of pics to go.. Cepat2 aje lah ya.. Nak jahit baju ni.. Takut nanti either budak2 tak de baju raya or customer tak de kek raya.. muahaha.. Testing my priorities eh.. :-p (susah nak tulis sikit2 sbb many cakes ordered have a story)

Like this one, Ewan was way too shy to even send me an email to order a cake for his girlfriend. So, he got his sister Nur to liase with me. His girlfriend loves antique cars.. and he wanted me to follow the car from the movie Herbie and change the number 53 to 97. He is such a romeo that he even designed the cupcakes.. See the stripes and number.. I'm very happy that Ewan and Nur love the cake.. Gracias! And Nur, I hope he has paid for your shopping sakan?

This castle cake gave me sleepless nights thinking and dreaming. Inspired by Sofieya AsZahra's castle cake, Farah mentioned she wanted something like that, but ommit the sprinkles on the ice-cream cones. Geli tekak kata, nya. The cake was for her niece, Sarah. Like Gee, Ziyad's mom. Sarah's mom wanted figurines too, to place on top of the cake. Initially, she wanted Barney.. and when I mentioned the cream-weight issue, she agreed to find Barney toy figurines. However, she found Disney Princesses figurines instead! So, we changed the theme for a more princessy castle. The turrets or small towers were made of gumpaste. I got the idea from Carol Deacon's Perfect Party Cakes Made Easy book. However, I think next time, I should shorten the pillars.. or fasten the turrets with fondant.. Tak terfikir pulak masa tu.. Berdebar2 nak transfer the cake into the box, and then nak pergi Shah Alam pulak lagi. Alhamdulillah selamat sampai. Yes, Farah sent an MMS of the cake with figurines on top. Later2 I upload ye. Yang kelakarnya, belakang dah 'regeh', sbb semua orang makan yang belakang dulu.. Sayang, katanya.. :-)

Aduh, kek ni lagi syahdu (how to tell short stories?). I was already fully booked that weekend. With the castle cake and wedding cakes, I received a text message from Saw Gin. I can't remember the exact words, but the text message read that she wanted a fire engine cake for her 3 y.o son, Edward. Have called up 6 other places but all declined. She hoped that I could fulfil Edward's wish to have a fire engine cake. Text message ended with please, please, please.. I told her that I was already full, she pleaded again.. Sedih I.. Hahahaha.. and when I told Nurin about it.. she insisted that I bake the cake for Edward! 'Kesian Edward mama.. anggaplah tu Iskandar' ..kurang asam Nurin, playing with my soft spots. So, I baked anyways.. :-D (Hehe.. nasib baik nama Edward... ada lah sumber inspirasi Edward Cullen sikit)

aaaahhh... this is Caelan's train cake for his 2nd birthday. Caelan is Cecelia's son. Cecelia is my friend. She started by being my trainee, and then good friends! Rindulah nak gossip lagi Cece.. Kat rumah, asyik gossip ngan tepung aje.. No office affairs.. muahaha. Yang bestnya, Cece and Internal Systems team gave me this cake pan for my birthday.. It was the last birthday I celebrated with them.

Jangan marah aa.. this Elmo cake was ordered by Cece last year for Caelan's 1st birthday.. Lupa, lupa, lupa nak post!

Winnie the Pooh cake ordered by Norsha.. Waaa... Norsha dah jadi full time mom ya... Tak dan nak gossip la u.. When you came, I was busy with other cakes/cupcakes for another 2 customers that night.

Kalau tengok design ni, mesti tau inspired by Farell's cake, kan? Ayra's mom, Fuzi changed a little bit of Farell's design so that it is different (a little bit). Color scheme : more pink and purple. Sprinkles: Stars to Heart.. and additional ballonns and flowers.

And finally, Mickey Mouse cake for Afiq! Ala Rahayu, gambar Bob the Builder last year pun tak upload.. Nanti I cari (sama case ngan Cece.. ampun!)

And I realised, ada a few more birthday pictures I tak upload lagi.. Simpanlah dulu untuk posting akan datang.. Bulan puasa ni, cake/cupcakes tak mencabar sangat designnya... cewah. Nanti, tak de benda pulak nak post. And yes, Ramadhan ni, business as usual.. :-)

Semuanya Hantaran

Haa.. Dah ramadhan sekali lagi. Macam baru lagi Ramadhan lepas.. sudah berjumpa Ramadhan baru.. Alhamdulillah, masih diberi kesempatan untuk berpuasa di Ramadhan ini, walaupun menyusukan Jasmine.. Hendaknya puasa penuh lah kali ini dan yang paling utama puasa kita diberkati. Semalam, tiba-tiba teringat arwah abang sulung. Dia pergi ketika berumur 36 tahun. I will be 36 this year.. Nice date to celebrate this year - 10/10/10.. :-D.. Tapi, mengenangkan arwah pergi semasa berumur 36, macam tak seronok nak sambut besar-besaran... Walaubagaimanapun, bukan kita yang rancang sambutan harijadi kita, kan? Terus terang, saya dah berhenti menghitung umur sejak mencecah 30.. hahaha.. I am always and forever be 30.. muahahaha..

Anyways, enough being melancholic... Get ready to feast your eyes with these hantaran and wedding cakes/cupcakes.. All work done before Ramadhan. I realise that many got married before Ramadhan. Ramadhan is like a dead line kan.. My 2nd week before Ramadhan, I was busy with wedding cakes, hantaran and doorgifts. My last week before Ramadhan, I was busy with birthdays pulak, which pictures will be uploaded on the next post ya.

I'll start off with this one first.. This was ordered by Ayu, as many know her by Ayu the Sun.. :-D .. aka orang kuat redmummy. Ayu was inspired by Dahlia's stacked cake with a ribbon on top. She said, 'Shaz, buat lah apa saja.. asalkan hijau and putih..'. I was happy! and scared at the same time - what if they don't like what I like. But, I went ahead with this design after thinking and thinking and dreaming and dreaming.. When Ayu came over to send the cake stand back, I was relieved that she was very happy, and so were the bride and groom and everyone else. I know that some would love to have lots of flowers on top of their wedding cake, and this cake is pretty western. Thanks Ayu for your faith and the oppurtunity to try out something different and for letting me add this design to my resume.. muahs!..

Haa.. this was ordered by Anisah's brother. He's the one yang sungguh2 design the cake n cupcakes.. Romantic,kan? He wanted the flavor to be carrot cream cheese, which I do not recommend for hantaran, because the cream cheese will sour if it is left outside for along time.. I only agreed because the girl's side was just nearby.. takdela nak travel jauh2.. :-)

And this red and white theme was ordered by Liza. I had to mix store bought flowers with home made ones, because the red color roses were out of stock. So, I had to make them.

This was ordered by Elly who came at 930+pm to collect her hantaran set. I honestly thought she had forgotten it. Sorry Elly, nampak Kak Shaz in a glimpse aje. I just woke up from a nap and I looked like hell.. gatherring strength before I headed back to the kitchen. My collection time is from 8am till 7pm weekdays. 8am till 12 noon and 2pm till 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays.. Bukan apa, the kitchen is where my family hangs around and cook and eat, and revise (even though I dah buat study table mahal2 :p) and they are pretty shy when my customers come by to collect their cakes (except for Dania and Hannah who are my PR :-p, and are very happy to see you guys). So, after 7pm, I made a promise to them to pass the cake at the gate saja.

This set below was ordered by Lynn. Lynn initially wanted a mix n match set like Elly's for the hantaran, and called in last minute, requesting me to make it a stacked mix n match. The cake was supposed to be a present from her. However, her aunties were pretty worried that the cake will not turn out to be grand enough for the occasion. Honestly, I would be extra worry everytime someone has doubt in my capabilities. I'm not upset. I'm just afraid that my creations are not to their expectations. And, I would happily request them to order elsewhere. Save the stress.. :-). However, Lynn insisted that I do the cake for her. I'm glad her aunties were happy to see the cake, and this set has passed as lavish enough!

While some prefer lavish designs, others prefer it simple. Less is more. Suraya likes it simple and clean like this.. :-) Cantik, kan (sendiri masuk bakul..muahaha)?

This was ordered by Haizan for her wedding. She ordered a fondant cake and a set of cupcakes for hantaran. And this 2 tier stacked wedding cake. All peach!

Haizan mentioned that the choc cake I made for her was a bit bitter than usual. Thank you for the feedback Haizan. I actually modified my choc moist cake recently, from full cream milk to chocolate milk for the more choclaty taste. I received many feedbacks saying that they like it.. But, when asked which one they like better, they can't tell. So, if you find something different to the taste, or the texture is dry, pls let me know, so I can improve. Of course, like beauty, taste is subjective. Let me know anyways. Sometimes, I get different feedbacks for cupcakes from the same batter.. Haa! How is that possible? Well, besides the taste being subjective, I concluded that I should lower down the oven temperature after a certain hour. I believe that's the reason.. Hmm, did you know that I am an Information Technology graduate and that I was a Systems Analyst for 10 years? That's why I can't help analysing! Till then folks!

Blame it on the hormones! When asked by Syikin to do a baby theme set for Kirtini Shriya Naidu's baby shower, I was more than happy to do it.

Even though it was a short notice, I managed to squeeze in some time betweeen the toppers, other orders and my precious Jasmine. Alhamdulillah.. I don't know why (yes, the hormones..) I kinda love this set so much that I had a difficult time choosing which picture to show you guys.. Thanks Syikin for your faith.

I decided to post this first, to show Lay Yim other different designs for baby theme. Yes, Lay. I owe you a quotation. Hopefully this afternoon.. I am in the midst of completing Rad's blue and purple carnations this weekend. And Serina's stacked wedding cake for tonight.

Alhamdulillah, I was immediately on 5th gear since 1st July, well actually on 29th June I've started baking for Tini and Safura. :-D .. and I know my limits with my new sweetheart on board, so I can't really accept that many orders as I used to.. Not at the current moment. And I am being reminded over and over again by caring friends, especially Nana; that I just went through a MAJOR operation.. Heh heh..

Btw, 17th July is already fully booked ya. Other weekends, ada 1 or 2 slots left. So, if you are really interested, please book your time way in advance. Till then..

Anything for the babies

Nope not mine.. These are the cakes and cupcakes ordered by mothers for their newborn, 1 and 2 year olds.. FYI, I have to post this as quickly as possible as I took time off just now to bake.. Memang terasa tersangatlah giannya, and I baked a Famous Amos cake and cupcakes... Well, I was experimenting my recipe.. And before baby Jasmine wakes up for another round of feeding, let's start off with this baby blue theme. This set was ordered for Baby Tristan's Full Moon party. Baby Tristan's mom, Lauren also ordered cupcakes as a Full Moon gift. Thanks Lauren for the order.

And this was ordered by Farah Donna for her son Amin. She was inspired by Roger's clown and wanted the same for Amin's cake.. Since she wanted a mix and match set, I was thrilled to have different positions of clowns on the cupcakes and cakes.. More pics in my flickr..

And this was ordered by Farah Dinna... yes, you got it right.. She is Farah Donna's sister. And yes, this was collected on the same day.. This cake was for Mikail's classmates. He is 2 years old, by the way..

Owh... ini untuk Irfan Haziq! Ibunya, Halimatun called, and she was inspired by Farell's cake. So, she ordered one for Irfan Haziq.. just the bottom tier.

Pink Roses and Carnations

Tomorrow 18/6, Baby Jasmine be 1 month old.. and today I received a baby gift basket from my customer turned friend Ena, Muar. Terkejut ada, terharu pun ada... Sbb kat rumah ni yang selalu terima gift baskets is my dad.. Terima kasih banyak2 Ena.. And hari ni, I terlebih rajin untuk access the net via my own zaman tok kaduk's computer yang sudah lama I tak on.. Selalu asyik menyendeng kat Nurin's or Dania's laptop. And I just realised there are so many pictures here that I have not uploaded. So, cerita lama la sikit ya.. This was ordered by Kak Su! Her sister's engagement.. I think..(dah lama sangat ni..). Selalunya Kak Su lah orang kuat behind all the parties and events at her house.. She would be THE person who knows what to do, who should do what and ensures that everything is in place on time. When Kak Su mentioned the theme was pink, I suggested the roses that I learnt from Kak Jun.. I really would like to implement and practise them.. as practise makes perfect.. and I sure I hope I delivered them well.. Of course I want my teacher to be proud of me.. :-D

And this set was ordered by Radziah.. the same day I did for Kak Su.. I'm glad she wanted carnations! So, I did different shades of carnations for Rad.. I'm glad to have met her that night before I change to my nighties..

This was ordered by Farah for her cousin's wedding. You see, Farah wanted the cake and cupcakes arranged in tiers. I suggested them to use the wine glasses and arrange the cupcakes at the bottom, and middle tier, while the cake goes at the topmost tier. I am supposed to receive a picture from Farah, the final arrangement of the cake, but have not received it. So, you guys imagine aje lah ye..

And, as I finished typing this, I hear Baby Jasmine crying for milk..

Welcome to the Mas clan, baby girl! Yes.. I've given birth to a healthy baby girl, Mas Jasmine Zahirah on May 18th, 2010 via c-section this time. Alhamdulillah everything went well and everyone is fine. I am approaching my 4th week of confinement now. Having experienced both c-section and normal deliveries, I would say the healing process for c-section is a little longer compared to the latter. My gynae gave me a list of dos and don'ts before I left her clinic, compared to when I left her clinic after my normal deliveries, which is None :p. So, I sent the mixer for servicing just to ensure that I would take this time to rest properly and heal quickly.

As mentioned in my earlier post, business is as usual, where all orders are passed to my beloved aunts and cousin. Call early to avoid disappointment, as they too have their own customers.

I have started accepting orders for July already. With Baby Jasmine on board and two toddlers (thank God the other 2 are already independent), there is a limit of how many cakes/cupcakes I can do in a day. So, text me to book your slot! ( 1st week and 4th week ada sikit aje slot tinggal).

On another note, please send a text message, as I am not able to answer your call most of the time.. Or send me an email, better!

Nope, I've not given birth yet.. Adoi.. I am now approaching my 39th week already and my baby hasn't taken the correct position for me to deliver the natural way yet.. Duk menari ke sana sini.. My gynae has scheduled a c-section for me next week - Tuesday.. Huwaaaa! The past one week I've been delegating orders from my customers to my aunts and cousin.. So, I would say business is as usual, cuma I tak bake or decorate. :-D.. Ada masanya I will help screen and arrange the orders, and ada masanya I'll just pass you their number ya.. And since I've not been baking, I got a lot of things done. Sungguh seronok creating a list and cancelling them off! I should add uploading pics in my next list. As for now, enjoy this pics first ya.. These are kiddy designs.. ada kiddy + hidden mickey (I dunno what to call it.. Erhan actually requested me to draw mickey mouse.. mana la I terer draw mickey mouse..), and baby theme + hidden mickey

And, I think the week after that, I accepted an order - pun nak Mickey Mouse jugak.. but Norul was inspired by Malaeka's stacked cake.. And since I mana la nak pandai draw Mickey Mouse, she gave me the idea of hidden mickey at the sides and ribbon on top. The cake was delivered all the way to Putrajaya (Thanks Zubir!). She also ordered a batch of mini cupcakes with Malaeka-sprinkles.. I'm happy to know that Dahlia's party was a success and the cake was a hit.. (Sedapkan nama Dahlia.. if I've not named my second child Mas Dania Dalilah.. I would have chosen Dahlia for this baby.. :-)) Asyik dok buat Mickey themed cakes aje, I was priviledged to be introduced with this new trains in town. Meet Koko (green), Brewster (red) and Wilson (blue). Siti ordered these cupcakes as doorgifts for Adam's classmate.. And on the 2nd May, she ordered this cake for Adam's party. Of course, like Thomas, I used the train pan and turned it into Koko, Brewster and Wilson.. As long as Siti approved. Thank you Siti..

And I realised that I did quite a few kiddy girly themed designs just before my leave.. Here are some of them..

Hari ni dah 30/4.. Initial intention was to accept orders until this date sahaja. And then, a regular customer, Siti who ordered a stacked clown for Adam's first birthday requested a Chuggington cake for Adam's 2nd birthday on 2nd May. Hard to say NO to my regular customers who have supported me for three years now. :-) And 2nd May jadi 3rd May for Adibah... and then she postponed her party to 4th May, so 4th May pulak jadi last day to bake cakes. And then other regular customers who happened to know that I would be taking a long leave pakat order jugak, and siap text me that they would pray for my health. Thank you Kak Lili.. xoxo... I am excited to post a creation I did today, materialising Dahlia's 1st birthday cake... Tapi, I have a lot more pending pictures to upload.. I don't like to mix birthdays and weddings.. So, since the last post was about birthdays, this one is about hantaran and wedding cakes... Starting off with my favourite customer, Farah Donna who always have faith in me.. (this also reminds me that I have not uploaded Farah Donna's and Farah Dinna's sons' cakes.. sabar ya.. Nanti I cuti, I geledah semua folder I.. ). Farah was the 'orang kuat' for her brother's wedding early April... This hantaran was requested by her mom. Theme color : pink and white.. I'm glad to receive a text message from her informing me how pleased her mom was with the cake.. I'm so happy!

And for the reception, Farah ordered this 3-tier wedding cake for her brother. I'll post different angles of the cake in flickr ya..

Haa... yang ni pulak ordered by Aliya on behalf of her friend. The theme was white, and she requested white flowers on white cake..

Besides this white fondant, Aliya also ordered this pink and red cuppies as hantaran.. I'm not sure now which one was for the groom and which one was for the bride.. Hentam sajalah Labu..

And saving the best for last.. Wani was fascinated by the roses I learnt from Kak Jun and ordered Red Roses for Arie and Ida's hantaran. She wanted 8 roses.. and I tell you this - I made 17!! Cos Wani wanted 'merah hati'.. and my first eight flowers macam tak jadi merah hati.. and I had trouble to eliminate the corn flour .. Alhamdulillah Wani ordered early and I didn't waste my time to do the flowers.. So, I can investigate, find solutions and resolve the issues... And I am very, very happy with the result and so was Wanie.. Aaaah... sukanya terima text message. Bukan sekadar acknowledge dah terima cake.. tapi melahirkan perasaan gembira pulak tu.. ah.. suka hati.. InsyaAllah, I akan upload different angles of the roses nanti ya... To my teacher, Kak Jun.. you are the best! Tengah congak2 ni bila nak boleh pergi kelas figurin.. :-p

Serina's Masterpiece

So many ppl have asked if I conduct classes.. LOL... Not yet la ... However, I can't say NO to my friend, Serina, who begged and begged and begged.. And I finally gave in. The first class, she came with Shikin, and Serina brought her own cake and cupcakes. So, I taught her how to cover them with buttercream and some designs yang simple2.. floral and a little bit of kiddy designs..

Yesterday was the 2nd time she came to learn alone.. (Shikin, ke mana kau? Pergi makan kat Chili's ya.. :-p). And yesterday was Hakim's birthday.. Serina decided a clown theme for his birthday, and since he is 4 y.o, so 4 clowns on the cake.. So, difahamkan she spent Monday to bake the cake and buy all the decorative items, like the clown heads, HAPPY BIRTHDAY candles, etc. Sesungguhnya, cikgu ini banyak songel. I got her to get the butter cream ready, and bring small tupperwares. Nanti color la kat rumah I and lebihnya boleh bawak balik.. :-) .. Best jugak mengajar when everything student yang bawak.. Well, barulah boleh claim that the cake is 100% your creation.. betul, tak?

Maka, ini adalah hasilnya.. 100% buatan Serina.. I did the clown on a tin, and she applied it on the cake.. Terrer tak anak murid I yang sorang ni? Buat hati berbunga gembira aje.. :-D

BTW, kelas ni hanya sejam aje.. Sejam lagi sembang.. She came at 9 a.m and left my house at 11am.. :-D

Stacked Birthday Cakes

Hari ni sepatutnya sibuk... dengan gynae's apptmt lah, nak cari Iskandar's bedsheet lah.. Semalam cari2 kat Aussino - tak de yang boyish design.. So, hopefully the Lightning McQueen yang I tengok many moons ago still available kat Subang Parade. So, now I have some free time to post one entry and some pics..Quick ones yeah.. I know you guys dah boring dengar cerita ntah apa2 from me lately, kan?.. I find that stacked cakes are very popular these days.. Starting with Foxy Farah's cake, well actually Farell's cake; yang gambarnya I dah masukkan dalam flickr, tapi tak create any post here in my blog. Many were inspired by the cake and requested stacked cakes too for their little ones' big day, like the Spa Cake. And this was requested by Suhaili, for her 1 y.o daughter, Malaeka.

The theme was pink and green.. and accompanied by these regular and mini cupcakes.

Owh, btw, check out this awesome photographer Triplets Plus One, who took pictures of Malaeka's Pool Party . I pun teruja with her packages.

Ni pulak ordered by Jazz for her 1 y.o Sofieya AsZahra.. Panjang sungguh namanya. InsyaAllah, kalau sempat, I'll post different angles of the castle in my flickr. I tried to materialise whatever Jazz wanted. She wanted rainbows, and castles.. and many more.. I buat semampu I.. and was thrilled that she and her guests loved it.. And I loved decorating it too..

Ni pulak ordered by Kak Siti from Klang for her dad.. Names at the blue hearts tu are her sibblings, mom, kids and/or nephew and/or niece.. Tak sempat interview salasilah keluarga. Since this was a delivery, I also sent her an mms of the cake. Best kan teknologi masa kini...?

And gambar yang enter frame this time ada 2.. :-D. Winnie the Pooh cake for Dania's 3rd birthday ordered by Ina. Masih belum ada jodoh jumpa Ina, sbb everytime dia datang, I kena amik or hantar budak sekolah.. ada yang keluar pukul 2.. masuk pukul 2. balik 3.30.. kadang2 nak masuk 8 kali keluar masuk rumah..InsyaAllah Ina, next time, kalau ada jodoh, kita jumpa juge...

And this was ordered by Puan Mastura for her 14y.o daughter.. Her daughter actually sent me an email describing how she wants the cake to be like. And I was very impressed with her mail.. macam orang dah kerja.. Sungguh proper.. :-)

And satu lagi gambar yang enter frame is this cupcakes. My neighbour Kak Salma ordered these cupcakes for her 1 y.o granddaughter, Laila, as doorgifts for her guests.. And I just realised, I tak ambil pun gambar doorgift tu (rupanya macam ni.).. LOL.. Mana tak nya. Kak Salma wanted the doorgifts delivered to her house (which is just next door) by 8 am last Saturday. Of course, the cuppies were all decorated by 930pm - Friday. And I purposely didn't want to pack it just yet, sbb I nak tengok the cuppies 1 by 1 and ensure that semuanya cun before sending to her. So, I woke up at 430am and put the cupcakes in individual boxes. Tak sampai hati nak kejut Juriyah to help, even Dania did offer to help with RM5 upah, tapi tak bangun pun.. :-p ..By 630 am, Juriyah pun help me with the cupcakes, and all 200 of them were sent to Kak Salma's house by 730am. And I tak amik gambar pun.. Ni antara design yang I mms to Neena (Laila's mom), and then I got bored with the design and added butterfly, bubbles etc. (inspiration pun dari langsir Dania yang I beli last week tapi tak jahit lagi.. Kena buat TO DO LIST lagi sekali ni.. Baru seronok tengok the items got cancelled off the list..

Sudah semestinya.. Sbb tengahari tadi, baru jemput Juriyah dari LCCT!! Yang paling gembira - Nurin lah.. Sbb dia lah yang paling banyak buat kerja masa Juriyah tak de.. Since last week, I duk tulis orders for 15th onwards.. Sengaja tak nak buat lagi esok. Mana tau Juriyah tak jadi naik kapal terbang. LOL! Bagus jugak tak start lagi.. Sbb kebetulan masa Juriah kena balik tiba2, I dah schedule org datang cat bilik budak2.. So, banyak brg2 kena ubah. Ni Juriyah dahbalik, boleh la jahit langsir dan start spring cleaning. Tadi, hajat di hati nak jahit sendiri tempat tidur baby or to be exact - get my mom to sew.. Tapi, kamdar kat SS2 tu tutup pulak.. Maka dengan itu, singgah Babyland to buy the rest of the baby stuffs including the pillow cases, bolster and comforter. Habis cerita.. Tak payah nak jahit dah for the baby.. (terkilan jugak sbnrnya.. Sbb the other kids, I jahit sendiri. Hannah aje yang my mom jahitkan).. Oh well.. I have 3 days to clean up my part of the hse.. Hopefully sempat lah kan.. dgn keadaan diri yang nak tunduk pun penat.. :-p .. Anyways, ni I try blogging from my E71. I'm not sure how to upload pics from here. I bet it can be done. So, if this post goes without pics like my previous post, jangan marah aaa.. I tengah gode2 ni the functions while I teman cik abg sayang tengok bola.. Till then! Take care!

I should have posted this last week, but I did not have the time to do so. My helper had to go back immediately last week, and I was left with a list of orders from my customers, unwell toddlers, school going children, sleepless nights, and the list goes on.. :-p ..

I honestly would like to apologise for the un-answered phone calls and the late reply emails. I do appreciate if you could send me a text message instead of calling me. I usually reply all text messages daily, if not immediately, as sometimes I am driving when you text me, or changing the diaper or bathing my kids or putting them to sleep.. I would reply the soonest I can. If you don't get a reply from me by the end of the day, it might mean that I do not receive your text message. It happens. Langsung tak bermakna, biz dah laku or I dah sombong. Just text me again the next day yeah..

If you require a quick response from me, again, send me a text message. Email is not a pretty good option, as I might be having problems with my wifi.. Inform me the date you want the cake/cupcakes and what u have in mind; i.e Bob The Builder. If I am available on that date, then we'll continue the discussion via email. I hope this arrangement works.

In the mean time, I would like to inform you that I shall not be accepting orders till the 15th of April. I will be on leave effective 5th May till end June, insyaAllah.. I shall see if I am capable to start baking again with child no.5 when July comes ya.. Kita hanya mampu merancang, hanya Allah yang menentukan.. Right?:-) Till then everyone.. Take care.. Today is Tuesday.. why do I feel like it is already Thursday? Iskandar is not feeling very well, so hubby decided to let him stay at home.. and I translated that as, stay in the room. He was quarantined not because of his mild fever, but to ensure that he didn't see me doing my fondant toppers and gumpaste flowers hahaha.. evil mommy.. I gave him food, toys and tv programs.. and whenever we heard him make a single 'ek', we quickly run to his rescue.... and made sure his needs were entertained... However, I still have to complete my work before 2pm, because it is exam week for Nurin and Dania.. Tak pasal mak depa kena remember the function of eustachian tube, Akaun Penghutang and the sorts.. Science and Commerce are so not my favourite subject.. Luckily tomorrow, Nurin is having Math, so I persuaded her to do Math while I finish up my toppers. And now, I ayat her to coach Dania Science, before doing revision for Sejarah.. I am taking this precious time to check my emails and post this.. I would like to introduce this new box for individual packaged cupcake. I so love the window at the side and the handle option. There are 3 ways in tying the ribbons for this box; ribbon on top or ribbon on the handle or ribbon around the box (which picture I don't have).. I was worried over boxes and ribbons (since CNY - byk kedai around my area tutup), that I neglected the flavour Kida requested. She requested chocolate flavor, and I made vanilla! SubhanAllah.. that incident haunted me till this day. It was totally my fault. I failed to check the flavour which is the most important thing.. Getting Kida to forgive me is one thing, forgiving myself is another.. It is like justifying to God that I've donated loads of money to Haiti, I just tak solat aje.. Can kah? :-p (don't get me wrong... I tak kata customer I Tuhan ya.. jangan salah tafsir. Sesungguhnya, Allah Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang..).. Even though it is easier said than done, (believe me, I've been saying this to myself almost everyday), mistakes happen as I am only human and not perfect, and I pray that I am a better person everyday, learn from my mistakes and not repeat them. I do hope that someone would learn from my experience. Yes, experience is our best teacher. But other people's experience is a much better teacher.. :-)To Kida, Congratulations! This is it everyone! It's time.. Time to reduce the number of cakes to bake.. Effective March, I shall limit the number of orders per day to 2 customers only... Good news is that I can still accept if you need cupcakes for door gifts up to 250pcs or a 3-tier wedding cake. I think, in April kot baru start 2 cakes per day.. So, if you are interested to order, please, please, please place your orders the soonest possible time to avoid dissapointment, and do not be angry with me, as I am only human with a big tummy. And I have started taking orders for April too. I am due, insyaAllah in May ... err end May kot..

Btw, as mentioned earlier, I collect all edible images every Wednesday, so pls place your orders for edible images at least before Monday, or better still, the sooner the better.. Like a customer once said to me - you can never change a birthday.. so order early to avoid dissapointment and again jangan la marah I if you missed the boat..

I am still unsure of my pace in making gum paste flowers yet.. last week, I main belasah aje accepted orders for homemade flowers.. nak dekat 50 kuntum kot.. Hari2 buat from 8am till 2pm.. Break at 10am.. siap ada jadual waktu.. and panic unnecessarily sbb takut tak sempat siap.. So, I rasa if you like the homemade flowers for your hantaran or you have a special color like lavendar, or lilac (instead of purple), pls place your orders at least 2 weeks earlier.. so I can make them dengan tenang.. I love the red and pink roses the most..

I had to mix this with some store bought flowers.. My stock for store bought flowers pun dah berkurangan.. Have to replenish them because the cheapest hantaran is the one using the store bought flowers..(in case you're on budget) :-) The price for homemade flowers is of course slightly higher, but still affordable..

and the lavendar.. oooh.. susahnya nak dapat warnanya.. tu, second attempt on the colors.. sekali nampak macam lilac, sekali nampak macam lavendar.. the advantage of homemade flowers is that you can almost get whatever color you want compared to store-bought flowers.. which is purple, tak de nya dia nak layan lavendar or lilac.. LOL..

And gambar yang enter frame this time is this shocking pink heart shaped requested by Mummy Eleen.. The theme was pink and black.. Well, I had to ask her permission to use shocking pink (since it goes very well with black - compared to pastel pink).. and she agreed..

And last week, I've been working on dedication projects.. Bukan saja orang2 yang bercinta, tapi juga dedications dari London for her sister.. To start with, this is a Sailor themed cupcakes ordered by Wan Sue for her darling..

And then Eina called me up to order cuppies for her hubby. It was his birthday and their 5th anniversary.. Untung Eina, can be a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) which is a dream for many mommies - to see their kids grow in front of their eyes.. You are one lucky lady!

and this one from my school mate yang sedang bertapa di London for her sister, Zarita.. one lucky sister! Thanks Zarin for the order.. BTW, Zarin, I told you earlier that I wanted to experiment on the orchids and magnolia.. Tak jadi la beb.. sbb tak stress test the gumpaste flowers lagi - if they can handle being in the refrigerator.. :-p

Birthdays, Clowns and Spa!

First of all, I would like to apologise to my customers who called me in the morning these few days.. whose calls were not picked up.. I have very limited time to bake, make fondant toppers, flowers and such.. So, please send me a text message or an email. I will reply to you the soonest I can. Talking about replying, I realised that my emails to my Yahoo customers did not go directly to their Inbox, but to their Spam instead. I yo yo lah stay up to reply mails, kononnya nak efficient.. rupa2nya masuk Spam.. oh well, we try the best we can to be super good.. Yang penting kita berusaha.. and then tawakkal.. and jangan lupa bersyukur... (peringatan untuk diri sendiri sebetulnya..) I would like to start today's post with this Birthday cake, requested by Wendy. It is for her BF's dad who is so into clowns.. She is so creative in determining on how the clown cake to look like.. See the 6 clowns? It represents Roger's 60th birthday.. I just help materialize her cake.. Thanks Wendy for the order. Ooh.. The space in the middle is for her to place the 60 candles.

This Ultraman is a repeat design, but I just realised that it was never posted anywhere in my blog.. So, when I explain to my customers, they had a tough time imagining it. Anyways, I'm quite sure you know that there are many types of Ultraman.. My 3 y.o Iskandar is teaching me which is Gaia, Cosmos and etc.. So, if you know your son's favourite Ultraman, send me the pic, so I can follow the costume closely. Thanks much Intan for the order.

and sapa kata Upin & Ipin are for boys only.. My girls love Upin & Ipin.. Saira called to order Upin & Ipin for her 2 y.o Aisha.. I went a little bit over board over the flowers surrounding the cake.. yeah.. the dr told me I'm carrying a girl.. Probably that's why.. :-p

And saving the best for last.. A spaish bithday! Noreen called me to order a spa-ish bday cake for her two girls, Adilia and Airissa..(sedap nama.. ada harapan I kidnap nama ni..) . Sungguh beruntung budak2 sekarang.. Noreen brought them and their guests to Feffy's Kids Spa .. Read all about it here..

(Zarina selalu datang collect cakes.. and none for Tasha.. huk huk.. ni macam kes I .. bake cakes for ppl but none for my kids.. :-p) I yo yo la ingat bday Tasha sbb Zarina wanted a Hannah Montana theme.. with guitars and all.. and Zarina texted me the next day, kata Tasha tak nak share the cuppies with her friends at school! Bunga baru

Finally!! After many postponements, I managed to arrange a time with the famous Kak Jun of cupcakekasih for a gumpaste flower modelling class! .. I've been wanting to attend Kak Jun's class since middle of last year.. but our schedule asyik clash ajer.. So, on 3/2, I managed to get Kak Jun's time, and arranged the children's transportation for the day. Seharian bersama Kak Jun.. siap baca doa penerang hati so that ingat apa yang Kak Jun ajar, cepat tangkap ilmu yang diajar and so that Kak Jun tak bosan ngan I.. LOL... Banyak tips yang diberi, and I highly recommend her class to anyone anytime.. Kak Jun, semoga dilimpahkan kesihatan yang memuaskan dan rezeki yang berpanjangan.. Lepas aje belajar from Kak Jun the techniques.. apa lagi, terus buat the gumpaste and start making flowers.. Bukan apa.. takut lupa apa yang diajar.. Selain dari itu, start shopping for tools!! Merata pergi... Of course, my collection at this moment is not as extensive as Kak Jun's, but I don't wait to complete everything to start something.. Whatever I have and I can find, I do that first.. So far, out of 10 types of flowers learnt, I have made big roses, Kak Jun's roses, calla lily with ribbon, carnations and fillers.. Alhamdulillah I have customers yang have faith in me and let me explore even on their hantaran!! I would like to specially thank Zarina who always have the faith in me, Lina - congratulations dear on your engagement! And Allyza who is my first time customer who allow me to explore on her hantaran with carnations.. and Shayna with her ayat standard : tak kisah la Kak Shaz, janji lawa... Below are some pics.. Ada tu, I mix with store-bought flowers... sbb tak sempat,... Mana taknya, this week I've been working so hard to complete the flowers before 230pm.. Motivation to work fast: sebelum Iskandar pulang (exact words from Juriah..).. He really 'LIKES' to help.. :-D

all in all, even though this has been a very hectic week, I am truly happy for having to implement what I've learnt from Kak Jun (Allah bless you, sister!) I look forward to my next victim (kidding!) so I can apply orchids, magnolia and camelia pulak.. Till then folks!

Guitar cake and Mermaid

Sebenarnyakan, I have loads of previous pictures to show you guys.. but I am too excited to show you my latest masterpiece. These 2 cakes were ordered by Sya for her darling hubby, Syam and her eldest daughter, Betty. Sya told me that Syam is into guitar these days.. nope, not the guitar kapak one... but the electronic guitar! I guess, pretty soon Sya kena renovate la rumah tu - buat jamming studio.. Tomo hanya layak menyumbangkan suara saja.. tapi, Tomo tak rock la! He is such a jiwang type..so Anuar Zain and B Marantika (I dunno how to spell his name.. ).. I usually go to Artisan.Cake.Craft to rent my shaped cake pan, and to my dismay, the guitar pan (yang macam I buat Hannah Montana's guitar tu) was no longer available. Then, I head towards ICCA.Section.14, but guitar pan was not for rental, only for sale.. only the famous shaped ones, like Barney, Tweety and the sorts are for rental.. and I am not sure if I want to purchase the pan that would cost me RM65.. bukan selalu orang order guitar So, I've to think out of the box. There are 2 ways that I could think of - 1) Bake a 2 kg cake and carve it to the shape of guitar, or 2) 1kg enough, and use cupcakes to make the handle (is it called handle?? ). Sya loved the 2nd idea.. And the best thing about Sya.. she let me do what I want.. Sure is one super-cool friend! She sent me a pic of Syam's guitar and I painstakingly followed it closely.. with hubby reminding me that it is just an impression of the guitar that is important.. tak payah 100% sama.. :-p Yo lah tu

And for 8 y.o Betty, Sya gave me this picca. This is the only doll yang cantik kat BWY.. Yang lain rambut panjang ala2 punk - purple and brown! Boleh?

Speed Posting - Assorted designs

Today, while waiting for Mr Hubby to wake up for breakfast, I decided to post old pictures (stories sudah pastinya tak ingat dah.. serves me well huh!?). I have new pictures too.. Tapi, memory card reader entah ke mana and I need to charge my battery for my camera to get the pics there.. Tawakkal aje amik gambar pakai my handphone.. leceh nak edit and all. At the same time, I'm praying that my wifi will not give up on me.. so, I can work quickly and efficiently.

Here are some cakes ordered last year.. I think around July ke bila.. Just to feast your eyes and to let you know that I am still actively baking despite my big tummy yang I kena belajar adjust so that tak kena cream everytime I decorate :-p..

Ada yang request to have number cakes other than no 1, honestly, I do not have the tin to bake those.. The number 1 tu, I guna technique cut and well, paste.. LOL. I believe you can do that for other numbers, tapi, gue tak terer gitu.. So, for other numbers than 1, I would draw them. :-D.. aci tak? kalau customer kata, aci.. aci la.. Customer is always right, kan?

The Lego themed cuppies, rasanya lagi cantik dibuat guna fondant topper gitu.. baru nampak 3D effectnya. However, some customers prefer the cream ones, and I try the best I can to materialise the lego with cream. (gambar ni kecik la pulak.. nampak tak the dots?)

This Bob the Builder was ordered by Heida.. Heida is one talented baker tau... I like her creations!

And Mr Bean! Of course guna edible image lagi cun compared to my drawing.. But, since some prefers the cream, so ...

Mr Bean boleh la draw... tu pun the Mr Bean the cartoon.. the person, of course not.. same goes to disney princesses.. sungguhpun cartoon.. takut jadi hantu nanti.. :-D. BTW, I noticed kat kedai2 bakery pun dah ada ready made edible images for Princesses, Ben 10, Upin and Ipin, Spiderman.. So, if I am using the ready made ones, the price of the cake is a lot cheaper compared to the pre-ordered images..

Oh dear me! I noticed I still have not posted this yet.. This is for the nurses at University Hospital (nama dulu.. skg dah tukar nama, kan?).. Eid ordered this in conjuction of Nurses' Day last year, together with a Thank You card for the dedicated nurses. I was expecting to find a 'Happy Nurses Day' card, but takde langsung. Alhamdulillah jumpa card ni, which I believed would convey the message effectively. As of date, Isa is still in the hospital.. InsyaAllah he'll be home soon... Amin.. Well, I rarely have time to update my blog these days.. With the new year, all cakes have to be ready before the kids come back from school. I intend to spend more time with them and less time with cakes.. (as if!).. Anyways, while waiting for Nurin to clear up her books, I decided to post something... and realised that they are still many pictures from this old PC that are yet to be uploaded... (sebenarnya terkenangkan gambar2 lain yang tersimpan dalam laptop yang dicuri... hmmm... gambar2 yang bagus nak ditambahkan ke dalam resume.. oh well... don't dwell).. So, I am choosing this pic to be uploaded in this blog this time.. Sesungguhnya tersangat lama... Ni birthday babies for Feb, March, April 2009!!! LOL!.. Haha... topicnya teruja... Sbb memang banyak yang mengujakan.. It all started with Emilya and Faizal's wedding.. Dah la hantaran masa depa tunang dulu, I buat for both sides.. So, this time around Emilya requested for a square fondant cake as the hantaran nikah.. (ceritanya sungguh lawak.. sbb tema warnanya bertukar di saat2 akhir dari peach ke merah putih..).. and Faizal requested a mix and match with white and silver theme.. (he actually changed his mind from mini cuppies, to fondant and at last had to agree to mix and match sbb dah last minute sangat2).. but I do remember that kalau mix and match macam lebih kurang ngan hantaran masa tunang.. So, since he left everything to me, I made him a stacked mix and match hantaran.. Nak tergelak sbnrnya sbb, I kinda decided on this at the last minute too (that was while I was decorating their 600 door gifts with E&F initials.. I'm glad to know that both bride and groom were happy with their cakes.. And due to this project, Nurin made me promise not to accept orders for more than 250 doorgifts. The next day, Shaza texted to order 700 cuppies... Sungguh teruja gue! Sorry ya Shaza that I had to turn you down. And the next three days pulak Ija called and kinda 'ayat' me to do 250 for the 31st and another 250 on the 1st... Sabar je lah Ija... I guess that is my update for now.. I've to rush for my gynae's apptm.. Baru 4.5 mths now.. but I feel so 6 mths already.. Till then everyone.. Thanks for still having faith in me despite the fact that I have not been updating my blog..

and oh.. the one in the box tu is a 5 mini cupcakes for the groom's side..

aduhai... ampun maaf diminta.. So many things happened.. penat nak cerita.. Apart from the pregnancy story you must have guessed from my previous entry, then orang pecah masuk rumah and stole laptops, handphone, camera etc, and my recent getaway for my 15th years wedding anniversary this year! tu yang tak jenguk2 my blog ni...

memang 1st trimester I am always sooooo lazy to do just about anything.. I am truly praying that this would just be a phase, like my previous pregnancies. Dulu, nak angkat telefon pun malas.. SubhanAllah..

then the stolen handphone is seriously a disaster to me,... as I keep all and I mean ALL orders in the phone calendar,. segala contact, segala details... huhu... A blessing in disguise that I didn't take many orders due to my condition, so I kinda remembered who ordered, and seriously PRAY that the person would call! Hahaha! and they did! Alhamdulillah... (though seram sejuk aje bila nampak orang park kereta depan rumah... takut depa nak amik cake, but NO cake!) Tapi, sapa2 yang order in November and December via text message and phone calls earlier... pls call me...just in case I tak ingat

Alhamdulillah, the thieves didn't see my working camera, and Alhamdulillah sangat2 that all the pics were not transferred yet to the stolen laptop.. so, masih ada lagi pix for my resume.. :-D.. and we are very very blessed that the thieves already found the goods, that they did not knock on our doors,.. Alhamdulillah..

Till then everyone... I am not sure yet when to upload the pics... depending on the mood swings I suppose.. hopefully not for long kan... amin..

I had a truly hmmm tiring week. Apart from decorating more than 1000 cuppies for Shasha's wedding reception (Mama Charq Jedi's daughter), I baked a few cakes and cuppies myself.. cari makan.. LOL.. Oh.. the 1000 cuppies tu tolong menolong aje.. balas jasa orang yang ajar kita buat cake kan.. I am in my lazy mood to do just anything.. nak laze around aje rasanya.. but my days have been planned since last week already.. so, tomorrow, dah start sibuk again.. Sepatutnya, (ceh sepatutnya..) smlm or hari ni, buat la kerja2 blogging ni.. upload gambar.. etc.. tapi, tidur aje! Tambah pulak sekarang ni tengah loya2 aje.. lagi la mim alif lam sin.. \If time permits, I shall do some posting tomorrow. My WiFi pun satu hal.. macam biskut.. nak check emails pun slow.. tertidur-tidur. Just to let you know, character cakes slot dah full, edible images slot pun dah full. I collect edible images on Wednesdays or Thursdays.. So, tadi dah submit orders to Arie.. Even though Arie is very accomodating in terms of entertaining last minute orders, I tak suka la susah2 kan dia selalu... kan? So, no cake pics today.. InsyaAllah esok yah..

Kak Safiah ordered this through her sister, who is also my neighbour, Aunty Abrizah. I remember that I also did a make-up bag a few days after this cake alongside with girly fondant cuppies... Lamanya tunggu Zarina to send me the pics... Zarina balas dendam ya? Sbb Zarina lama tunggu I buat the fondant toppers. Alhamdulillah Zarina's hubby was so sporting despite he had to wait in the car for me to complete my job. I like that project, but I tak sempat nak snap the pics since Zarina dah tunggu lama...

Senjeev's Retro Cuppies

Sungguh! Asal orang tanya I, design apa ye for men? I would always suggest retro. Selamat gitu. Orang perempuan pun suka jugak dapat retro cuppies. We are not all that lovey dovey or sweet and pastel.. hello? I would introduce stripes and polka-dots in future. I am actually excited with a fondant hantaran this week, that requested polka-dots or stripes (haven't decided yet).. An english design. Seriously, I agreed to it just because it is different, and it is something I'd like to add to my resume.. I'm so excited! (FYI, I need to have this 'excited' feeling when baking or decorating - baru menjadi gitu.. that's why I chose the tag line - Mama Chak's Recipe - where every bake is personal.. so don't cross the baker.. haha!)

Heida & Farid's 6th Anniversary

Sebenarnya Heida tergoda dengan design on my Hari Raya cake. She wanted a pink and purple design also for her 6th Anniversary cum 33rd birthday celebration. She also insisted to have a ketupat design on some of the cuppies. It was a last minute order, as it was a last minute decision to throw the party. Heida could not wait to see the set, and requested me to mms her or post on my fb.. boleh? somehow mms tak jalan - entah kenapa.. and I tak sempat nak post on fb sebab lari2 lepas tu pegi open house. From Redmummy to Nuffnang Team

I am still tired today despite the fact I took extra time to sleep after I sent Dania to school this morning. Woke up again at 920 am, ( I think) and got Juriah to massage my legs and feet. It was totally a busy weekend. Starting from Thursday, right until Sunday. With last minute orders that I find hard to say NO to, plus the pujuk rayu from my loyal and first time customers, and my mind figurring out whether to accept or reject the order. Nanti reject, takut esok lusa Tuhan tak bagi rezeki dah.. Tapi for this Friday and Saturday, I am already pretty occupied. Mama Charq Jedi's daughter is tying the knot this Saturday, and I shall be helping with cuppies decorating on Friday. I have accepted a few orders takat I larat buat. I may accept another 1 or 2 orders - simple ones can lah... like the retro, floral, lovey dovey or kiddy designs. But fondant hantaran and character cakes slots are already taken up. Jangan merajuk ya kepada yang call and texted.. sorry sangat2 I decided to start this week's entry with this Hari Raya cuppies ordered by the famous celebrity blogger. Why? Cuppies nye merah... bagi semangat sikit kat gue yang masih penat sebetulnya.. Cuppies were dedicated for the Nuffnang team. I was told by Red that Nuffnang twitted the red cuppies the moment they received them. Thanks Red for the order.

Kisah Aliya...

Ingat Aliya? Refresh memory here.. Sebenarnya Aliya tak serah diri macam tu aja... Asalnya, she ordered a hantaran fondant as a gift for her BFF - Emey Shafina. She came to collect the cake with Emey, but Emey had to go somewhere else after that. So, she had to wait for Bahri to fetch her after Friday prayers. It was like God sent! She helped me cut the cake board for Izu's hantaran, fold boxes and even babysat Hannah! Then I got her to call Bahri asking him to fetch her after work.. I lah ayat dia... sian Bahri kerja kat Jalan Sultan Ismail kena datang amik Aliya lunch time.. dah tu bukan pegi mana pun.. lepak kat ofis Bahri aje.. KAH KAH KAH! My hidden agenda! So, Bahri agreed. Macam2 Aliya buat... dan macam2 benda terjadi in 1 day. I am grateful that Aliya is cool with the 'mishap'. She is one cool girl! She is also cool with the lunch spread at my house. Truly! Having lunch at my house is not like lunch at any typical Malaysian household.. Betul...

Back to Aliya's story... After lunch, we started with Shaza's doorgift.. I am truly impressed with Aliya.. That was the first time she held a spatula! And to spread buttercream on a cupcake is not as simple as it looks.. My words to her: Takpe.. yang mana tak jadi tu, nanti I touch up.. Anyways, Shaza and Yuzi came over after that and Aliya helped packed the doorgifts! After all was done, we had Juriah prepare us tea.. the tea leaves brought all the way from her home town at Jawa Tengah! She had to boil it first.. Truly organic! And Aliya named it teh ganja... asyik hooked on it aje.. We had some packed for her to serve Bahri..

Asyik cerita pasal kejadian hari itu saja.. lupa nak cerita pasal kek ni.. Kek hantaran ni Aliya nak special.. tak nak bunga2an biasa yang I selalu beli tu.. So, I got someone to do the flowers for me.. If you want to have this kind of roses, it is RM5 per piece.. Up to you, nak berapa pcs.. Aliya nak penuh kek.. Around 17 pcs kot I guna.. This 3-tier pink kaler themed wedding cake was ordered by Nana for the her cousin's wedding reception... Flavor is carrot cake... Mujur majlis kat Shah Alam.. Nana collected the cakes ard 10am. I have actually done Doraemon cuppies dulu kala.. tatkala my bestfriend sekolah rendah, Ainain Meskam ordered them for her brother's wedding.. Sayang I could not find the picture to upload. You see, Ain and I lost touch when my dad was transferred to Kelantan. As a government officer, my dad kena transfer here and there.. 1981-1988, I sekolah kat Sekolah Kebangsaan Ampangan, Seremban before I was transferred to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kota, Kelantan. Ain's mom makes the best nasi lemak.. I still remember her tupperware... orange kaler.. and I lah yang ngap sekali her nasi lemak time recess.. Err my food was lousy... roti ngan jam... apa kelas! I still remember her face everytime 1 sudu masuk dalam mulut I.. Sian Ain! And how Ain found me? Thru this blog!!! Cool tak? Alhamdulillah. Budak2 memang suka Upin & Ipin... I jarang tengok this local animated tv program. Honestly, I jarang tengok TV nowadays.. I do have my favourite tv series though, but I watch them on DVD, like Heroes, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.. So, if ever hubby had to go to JB for work, I would text him a list of tv-series and movies that we would like to watch... and siapla lepas tu.. marathon la kami.. A good thing about it is that, I am not tied up every Wednesday or Tuesday to watch.. Bad thing about it.. errr... why think of the bad thing? :-D Anyways, I (not my kids) was introduced to Upin and Ipin on one of hubby's business trip to JB.. and cerita ni memang kelakar.. betul betul betul.. Semoga industri animasi negara bertambah maju..

Iskandar suka gila Hotwheels.. mana taknya, cik abang gue tu, pantang nampak Hotwheels mesti nak beli kat Iskandar.. mentang-mentanglah he is our only boy (for now).. And I notice that Iskandar has a habit to bring along at least 1 toy with him everytime he goes out... even just for a short trip to fetch his sister from school.

Seriously! Sapa tak kenal celebrity blogger: Redmummy? As for me, it all started when Aliya ordered a set of cupcakes for redmummy's belated birthday. A white and silver wedding

The original order was just cake and cupcakes.. Agak pening jugak pada asalnya... sebab I liased with Shahrin.. and bukan Shahrin nak kawin.. He ordered for his friend, Noraidah... So, I ingat Noraidah la nak kawin... Anyways... on the day Noraidah's brother collected the cakes, I pun sms Noraidah to congratulate dia and enjoy her honeymoon. Rupa2nya bukan dia yang kawin.. LOL.. Cousin dia yang kawin..

The theme was white and silver... Honestly, macam kawan baik silver, gold, susahnya hati I when Noraidah sent me samples of fondant cake yang dia nak.. Ada one picca yang dia hantar tu, sebijik dengan gambar yang Shaza hantar. So, I pun tunjuk la gambar hantaran Shaza, and she agreed with some changes to the color scheme, of course.

This was ordered by Nana on behalf of her cousin. The theme was mocha and gold. I seriously ingat she wanted cupcakes, and I yo yo prepared brown roses... Ropa2nya she wanted cake. Since I don't do big flowers (yet), I suggested white roses with gold trimmings. I excluded green leaves, so that we totally get the mocha and gold effect. Berlari2 jugak I to Mama Charq Jedi's house and got her to help me with the gold ribbons. Hik hik... And I am glad to know that everyone loved it

Husna called me to order a Lightning McQueen cake for her son, Shareef Anis. She asked to see a sample of the cake, but there was none in my collection. I have baked Lightning McQueen cakes before, but I did not upload the picture.. My bad! The one in this blog was actually hand-drawn. At that time, I could not find a shop that could rent the Lightning McQueen tin... And yes.. I use a special tin to bake the character cakes yah.. Only sometimes I cut the cake to shape, like the No 1 cake, the ship cake or the aeroplane cake (yet to be uploaded.)

Standing Barbie in green and White Gown

Whenever there is a request for a Standing Barbie, I would usually get Mama Charq Jedi to do them, despite the fact I had attended a class with Mr Hau.. Mr Hau bukannya pakai Barbie, but doll... Doll yang main pacak jer.. so senang lah... (senang pun tak senang lah kan... senang cakap). And kaki Barbie kan panjang, so we need to bake 2.5kg butter cake or 2 kg choc moist, so that the cake covers up till the waist.

However, in the month of Ramadhan, Mama Charq Jedi is busy making Benji, and does not entertain character cakes. So, she gave me her tins(as usual... I selalu pinjam stuffs ngan Mama Charq aje, God Bless Mama Charq), and some pointers on how to stick the Barbie in.. She told me that she would come to help me stick the Barbie once I have decorated the skirt..

Tapi, I punya la malu ngan Mama Charq sbb my work was not as supperb as hers, so, I stucked the Barbie myself... (malu kat cikgu!). And here is the outcome of my first Standing Barbie cake.. And now, I look forward to do another one next week... Macam ketagih pulak... plus the fact that I can undress, twist and turn the Barbie around, I so like!

This green and white Barbie along with Disney Princess mocha cupcakes were sent to Kak Nisa's niece who is staying in Kota Damansara. Seriously, Kak Nisa, is a role model to me.. She would make a point to send cakes and cards to her beloved ones on their birthday or any special day no matter where she is.. Ooh... I heard she is back in KL now with a little one in the tummy! 52 tahun sudah

Dah 52 tahun kita Merdeka.. Honestly, to me, kemeriahan tahun ni tak terasa sangat. Mungkin sebab kita sambut merdeka dalam bulan puasa.. Then again , I tak nampak pun bendera Malaysia kat tiang2 lampu when we drove around that day... Bendera pun puasa rupanya.. Kat kereta2 pun kurang bendera2 comel tu.. I pun tak agree sangat with the bendera kecil tu. Bukan apa, bila dah terbang, jatuh ke jalan raya, kita langgar dia... then kena hujan, kena lecak... ..

Ok.. focus now. These were ordered by Farah aka BeeLove.. yang sekarang dah kerja as a Dr at Hospital Sungai Buloh. Farah ordered masa I pergi cuti-cuti Malaysia recently. It was for Majlis Buka Puasa. So, dalam dok jalan2, dok fikir design yang sesuai. Since tak de masa nak play around with the fondants, I thought of having the 1Malaysia logo as edible image to put on the fondant cupcakes. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to redesign the cupcakes and use all fondants instead.. Thanks to my spontaneous hubby (yang tiba2 nak expand the trip to JB), for his ideas and support. (I sebenarnya plan nak movie marathon with the family.. but kejap2 lari ke kitchen... last2 they gave up on me.. They started off watched the ones yang confirm I tidur. I joined them once I completed my work .)...

I tak cuti lama this year as I have visited nearly all my relatives on the 1st week of puasa (yeah.. travelled from KL - Kedah - Penang - Kelantan - Terengganu - Pahang - Johor - Melaka... penat gila!).. As I wrote the title, I remember the day I turned 30... Nothing much happenned that day... But I do remember that I stopped counting my age till now. Hek! And when someone asks me my age now... I would do a mental calculation (which is pretty slow)... and amazed of how 'young' I really am. I've never met Eliz actually... Yes! He is engaged! The guy with the lovey dovey requests to send cupcakes, roses and balloons every now and then, to the then girfriend, is finally engaged!

Bila nak buat post ni, baru perasan that I did not snap 1 important picture. You see, when Izu's mom called me up wanting to see some samples for Izu's cupcakes, jenuh I fikir something out of my ordinary. And the theme was silver and white... adoi... So, I had a few samples prepared for her. Of course Kak Jun's daisies were in the list. I also stamped out their initials I and S out of fondant and covered them with tiny silver dragees! Jenuh jugak nak buat tu... Rasa macam goldsmith pun ada jugak.. I am totally pleased with the outcome. But I did not snap the final picture! Doinks!

Mana taknya... when Izu's mom came to collect the cupcakes, she, her hubby and son had the priviledge (yes.. I choose to say that!) to witness me in action. I thank the Almighty for Aliya who came just in time to help! Well, it is one of those days in Mama Chak's Kitchen!

I was contemplating to post this, simply because I already have a post on Baby Booties . I decided to post this anyways because of the color. It is colorful. And it is different than the normal pastel blue and pastel pink theme. When seeing the table I used to place the cupcakes, I nak tergelak.. I remember Nurin kept on asking me when the new kitchen will be ready, because I had boxes of cakes on their desks and Iskandar's too! Mana saja tempat yang boleh diletak, I akan letak. Izu texted me from United Kingdom requesting something special for Sarah on her convocation. Romantic jugak ex-trainee gue ni. In the midst of setting up a temporary kitchen, I simply suggested 24pcs carrot cupcakes, a message balloon with roses and a graduation teddy... and I am happy to know that Sarah loves carrot cupcakes. Well, this convocation story is a bit basi... sbb THEY ARE ENGAGED ALREADY!!! Not sure if I sempat snap Sarah's fondant cupcakes hantaran to Izu ke tak. but, I did snap Izu's. When Kak Nisa from Sao Paolo emailed me that she wanted a mocha Princess cake with pink gown for her niece, Sham Fadzilatul Asma'(a.k.a Kak Chik), I discouraged her. Sbb, yang sedap with this mocha cake is the cream... Just thinking of it made me drool! Dengan kacang bipangnya...Gosh! But Kak Nisa insisted that her family kat Kota Damansara loves coffee cake.. Gown kaler brown pun, brown lah... So, Mama Charq Jedi pun yo yo la piped some pink so that bday gal suka... And these cuppies pun Mama Charq Jedi buat.. (gue punye kitchen tengah renovate kan time tuh..) I amik the edible images from Ellie deHeart. I was so happy that Ellie started this edible print business, cos I can collect them at her sister's place in Puchong (after she recently moved to Bangi too!). Since Ayu Loveliana moved to Bangi, I dah patah arah gitu.. As my customers kebanyakannya suka order last minute.. and eventhough Ellie told me to give her 3 working days... but she is so far capable to handle last minute orders too! Thanks Ellie! Intan's 4hr wedding cake

Seriously! I shall remember this date forever... 25/12/2008.. It was the day I spent 4 hours making sure Intan's wedding cake was smooth... Intan wanted a square cake at the bottom and a round cake stacked on top... She wanted to use fresh flowers ... so the flowers, I tak letak, her talented aunt did...

If not because of my husband forcing me to just stack the round cake... or in his exact words... LETAK!! LETAK!!!... I would have probably spent another hour making sure the square surface was smooth... hehehe... Mana tak nya, Intan who is a medical student in Melbourne, is such a perfectionist.. and she specifically mentioned that she wanted a smooth surface.. Dah macam-macam doa I baca... and when I finally stack the round cake...I am relieved... and when Intan texted me that she liked the wedding cake the most... I slept well that night... Thanks Intan darling! Zidni is one lucky man!

Faeza's Hantaran and Wedding Cake

Faeza ordered the red and white mix and match fondant cake with black swirls or I like to call it kerawang as the hantaran... and a mix shape stacked cakes for the cake cutting ceremony with Kak Jun's daisies. I'm relieved that Faeza loved both designs... I am more relieved that she liked her weddding cake... First is because, it took me quite some time to come up with 12 daisies! - 2 hrs kot! (no wonder sugar paste flowers aren't cheap... especially when they are home made flowers) and second, I am just afraid the design is not up to the traditional malay wedding cakes standard... u know with lavish flowers... and all (itulah masalahnya bila bukak the english cake designs...)..I had a great time having the gals (Shikin, Zuriati, Faeza who always got all excited when one cake box is opened after another... merekalah my cheerleaders... )...

Ilda insisted to order the hantaran set even though she had to downgrade her dream from hantaran fondant with Kak Jun's daisies to cream base with sugar flowers... Dah nak bawak all the way to Kuala Kangsar like 5 days before the akad nikah.. Bagi I panic aje.. At least the cream ones, can be stored in fridge and good for 2 weeks. The fondants tu, I takut dia melekit aje simpan dalam fridge, and worry that the color of the daisies would smear the white fondants nanti... I'm glad she still like her downgraded dream cakes.. Khalil is my nephew... My cousin's only son... OMG he is a brilliant boy... He is now 7 y.o.and he is so into cars! Ferrari is his favourite.. (more like lost in translation)... and when he was ard 3... he knows most of the flags of the world... all the countries which I had trouble pronouncing, he pronounced them well! Yes, I completed the Twilight Saga last week... Finally! Sunyi pulak after dah habis.. Tak de dah 'orang' yang nak paksa I tengok Michael Owen sepak gol! Nana pulak tengah 'cuba' ayat I baca Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward Cullen's view - eh Nana?). I understand that this would be Stephenie Meyer's next book, but somehow she published the draft online... So, for you Twilight fanatics... apa lagi? download la.. macam2 ada... kata Nana, the edited ones yang tak masuk buku pun ada.. :-) I've not read the ones yang Nana sent to me despite last week was a pretty relaxing week. I suddenly got hooked on these fondant toppers! Of course, the inspiration came from all the talented sisters at flickr, Kak Jun, Kak Anita Jamal.. And when Natasha called me to order these miniature handbag and shoes, I was ecstatic!

And then Nawwar pulak ordered on behalf of her sister in-law(?) all the doctor stuffs.. Thank you Nawwar for finding the pics for me to follow... You're the best, love! (especially when you like to make me 'perasan' - LOL!)..

Red & White Hantaran

I hope Azi was not annoyed with me for asking her many2 times if both boxes were red & white theme... Seriously, I takut salah theme... My 2nd worst fear tuh. My number 1 fear is if I forget to bake for anyone. So far, not yet. Alhamdulillah.. I ter'bake' awal ada la.. (and pening afterwards on what to do with the product later).. LOL! I like this project because of the flowers.. I call the daisies - Kak Jun's daisies. Ish... Kak Jun, tak sabarnya nak pergi class... then again... nak buat kitchen jugak nih... adoi..

Brown & Gold Carrot Cream Cheese Wedding Cake

Seriously, I would be very worried on 2 things when it comes to wedding cake.. 1. if the wedding theme is brown and gold. 2. if the wedding cake is carrot cream cheese. For the first one, it is simply because, there aren't any ready made brown or gold flowers at the store. So, I've to make my own.. and I have a bench mark of what beautiful flowers are like... see Kak Jun's blog... and I am still far away behind when it comes to sugar flowers. I usually would recommend yellow flowers... as they are closest to gold, and I would use brown ribbons to put in some element of brown. :-) WRT the second one, you can have carrot cake as your wedding cake only if you have a freezer or refrigerator big enough to keep the cake before the cake cutting ceremony. Sara rented the 3-tier cake stand. She wanted to have a fondant cake as the bottom tier and cupcakes on the upper 2 tiers. Another customer also wanted a similar wedding cake, and when she requested to see the picture, I just realised that I did not snap the final ensemble. Ceh! So, imagine sendiri la ye.. LOL! And to Sara, Congratulations!

The clock showed 2 am when I realised that this was not decorated yet... and I had a couple more to be decorated, and a trip to Temerloh the next morning. Knowing very well that, if I push myself to finish up decorating, it would not be as nice as this and I would be upset with my work. So, I slept first and woke up at 5 to complete the rest.. hehehe... I was very happy when Juriah told me how ecstatic Kamariah was when she saw the cake.. And when I received a text message from Kamariah, I'm glad I slept... :-)...

From Sao Paolo to Temerloh again

And this time, I delivered the cakes and cuppies myself... Of course, got tempted from Zubir who went the first time and his stories of the elephant sanctuary.. We didn't get to stop by the elephant sactuary though... but we did a little sight seeing on the way back, after eating the famous 'masak tempoyak ikan patin'... Well, Temerloh is known as Bandar Ikan Patin... :-)...

This time the package from Kak Nisa were for her niece - Puteri Amy Nabila and sister in-law, Amy Ezuna... To Mr Khairul and Kak Nisa, thanks much for this oppurtunity!

I have known Laily since my uni days. A perfectionist she is! The most responsible person I know. If I am not mistaken she had her then 14 year old brother stayed with her right after she graduated... and now her now all grown up brother tied the knot last week, and she ordered this 2-tier love shaped wedding cake for the reception. I felt so young ( I always feel young... LOL!) when my juniors, Fatin, Saidah and Umairah came over to order cupcakes... my juniors and Nurin's seniors. LOL! Those pretty girls gave me a heart attack last 2 weeks by showing up at my doorstep... I thot they wanted to collect their cakes which obviously I didn't bake!

Anyways, Fatin found me through her kind neighbour Nabawi, who gave her some cupcakes... and in return, they ordered these cuppies for Nabawi.. BTW, Nabawi wears bracers, hence the cupcake above Nabawi's name... :-) All the best girls for your SPM! And thanks Fatin, for the word of mouth.. It was pleasant to meet your mom!

I received so many last minute orders wanting Ben10 for their son's birthday... Nak order the edible image dah tak sempat.. Even the cheap RM10 edible images pun were taken! So, I braved myself to draw this one... and I am no longer afraid.. Of course, this can be perfected.. :-)
